On Monday, Wolfam Research launched a new search search engine, Wolfram|Alpha. They say that their goal is ” to make all systematic knowledge immediately computable and accessible to everyone.” That’s a pretty big goal, sounding a little bit like Wikipedia’s (“Wikipedia’s goal is to compile the sum of all human knowledge into a Web-based, free content encyclopedia.”).
I tried it out a few times and was pretty impressed. It has the ability to do math, give information about cities (population, map, etc.), stocks, math formulas (complete with graphing). It’s pretty neat.
